Director of Commerce, Dawn Williams

Mrs. Dawn Williams assumed the position of Director of Commerce in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce in October 2009. The position has responsibility for ensuring the achievement of the objectives of the Ministry’s Commerce Division and the timely development of agreed policy initiatives/framework that governs how business and trade activities are conducted within Jamaica.

She is a career civil servant having spent over 30 years in the public service and has been assigned to various Ministries including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Industry Technology, Energy and Commerce (with its various name changes) and the Office of the Prime Minister. Mrs. Williams holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Public Administration (major) and International Relations (minor) from the University of the West Indies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Management from the Management Institute for National Development and possesses strong administrative and managerial skills.

She presently serves as a member of the Council of Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation as well as the Audit Committee of the Companies Office of Jamaica.

A divorcee with one son, Mrs. Williams attends the Temple of Light Centre for Spiritual Living, loves to play scrabble and has particular interest in environmental issues.
