Entrepreneurs now have access to a weekly blog that provides information on business development strategies.

The blog, titled ‘Entrepreneur Weekly’, was recently launched by the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) and is available on the entity’s website at www.jbdc.net.

Articles from the blog can also be found on the JBDC’s LinkedIn page.

Corporate Communications Manager, JBDC, Suzette Campbell, told JIS News that the blog is the latest project coming out of the Corporate Communications Unit.

“We came up with the blog as our latest initiative to stimulate the ecosystem by putting information out there on pertinent topics in a different way,” said Ms. Campbell.

“You will find that the language is more palatable for the audience as opposed to a regular news release about matters pertaining to their development. It is [also] language that they are accustomed to when they scroll social media, like almost 24 hours daily,” she added.

Ms. Campbell pointed out that “we are in a digital age” and blogs have been around for a long time; however, it is a first for the JBDC.

“We believe that the time is ripe for it because people are hungry for information now in the ecosystem, particularly since COVID-19,” she said.

Ms. Campbell further noted that there has been a heightened need for awareness, in terms of business development strategies.

“People want to know what’s going on… [and] when they search for business development-related issues, we want them to keep JDBC top of mind. We want them to not just Google but to also come to the JDBC website,” said Ms. Campbell.

She informed that readers should look out for “interesting topics” such as the Jamaican Entrepreneur’s Starter Pack, the Five Lies Small Business People tell Themselves and the Case for Agro Processing in Jamaica,

The JBDC is the Government’s business development agency that assists in the sustainable creation and development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Jamaica.
