Chief Executive Officer, Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC), (CEO), Valerie Veira.
The Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) will be staging a series of online Employee Engagement Seminars during the month of October.
The seminars, under the theme ‘Lead in the Moment: Empower. Pivot. Grow’, will be held every Thursday between October 8 and 29, and will feature a host of international and local speakers.
Chief Executive Officer of the JBDC, Valerie Veira, told JIS News that the events seek to equip employers to gain workers’ solid commitment to the organisation’s goals, culture and brand, and to develop employees who consistently go the extra mile to produce results in the ‘new normal’ created by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“The year 2020 has been a challenging one. However, it is time to move from panic and back to passion. Businesses have been turned upside down and forced to pivot in order to remain viable and profitable. Even as we enter survival mode, we must also be mindful of the impact that the events of 2020 have had on individual employees, including leaders,” she said.
Miss Veira added that the seminars will also empower employers to create and implement the ultimate employee experience through strategy execution.
“Every leader is being tested right now, as they have to deliver targets regardless of what is happening in the environment. At the same time, those targets cannot be met without their employees producing optimally. This seminar series will empower leaders to empower their teams, so that organisations can pivot and grow,” she noted.
The events are targeted at executives, senior managers, middle managers, supervisors, aspiring leaders, entrepreneurs and academia.
The topics that will be covered include Virtual Talent for Business Growth, Reinforcing Earnings and Productivity in the New Norm, and Future-proofing your Workplace.
International speakers for the events are Best-Selling Author and CEO, Motivating the Masses Inc, Lisa Nichols; President of Leadership Quest, Steve Gutzer; and Head of Human Resources at the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Gale Baptiste.
Local speakers include Founder and CEO of Caribbean HR Solutions, Debra Frazer; and Managing Director and Co-Founder of Think Grow Lead, Paul Bryan.
Registration for the seminars is now open and interested persons can sign up online at https://bit.ly/30UwKkQ.
The JBDC is the Government’s business development agency that assists in the sustainable creation and development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
