…through economic development.
The Government of Jamaica places the MSME sector at the forefront of the country’s economic policy agenda because of the vital contribution of the sector to revenue generation and job creation. The MSME & Entrepreneurship Policy aligns with Jamaica’s National Development Plan (Vision 2030).
There is an estimated 130,000 business names registered with the Companies Office of Jamaica and over half of these are estimated to be in full operation based on tax data. Additionally, there are approximately 418,975 own account workers or self-employed persons in Jamaica, not including the over 200,000 farmers registered with RADA.
The MSME sector is an integral part of economic development, as it transcends many sectors including agriculture and fisheries, services, tourism, mining and manufacturing.
