The agricultural sector is expected to realize significant growth this year, with a recovery from the harsh drought conditions of the past year. Industry Minister Meets ITC Executive Director in Guyana:
Hon. Karl Samuda, Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries (left) yesterday met with Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC), Ms. Arancha González in the surroundings of the 42nd Regular Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) being held in Georgetown, Guyana (April 21-22). Minister Samuda expressed appreciation to the ITC for its support in the development of Jamaica’s trade facilitation road map and project plan, and discussed several issues that are of mutual interest to the ITC and the Government of Jamaica. The ITC is a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization (WTO), dedicated to making small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries more competitive in global markets.

The agro-parks project is being expanded, with some 3,000 acres of irrigated lands at Ebony Park and Spring Plain in Clarendon to be available for production shortly. More resources are to be made available to the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), to assist local farmers.
