Chief veterinary officer in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr Osbil Watson, has joined the call for the prudent use of antibiotics not only by humans, but also in livestock production. Agriculture Ministry takes action to prevent incursion of banana disease

In the wake of calls from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to banana-producing countries to step up monitoring, reporting and prevention of the Tropical Race 4 (TR4) disease of bananas, also known as, Fusarium wilt, Jamaica’s Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries is moving ahead to monitor the situation and increase knowledge and awareness about the disease. Monymusk to get solar power for irrigation system

The Monymusk sugar factory in Clarendon is set to become the first sugar factory in Jamaica to have its irrigation system powered by solar energy. Samuda heads to 45th Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development

Karl Samuda is to depart the island on Wednesday, November 8 to attend the 45th meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) in Georgetown, Guyana.
