Home Grown School Feeding Programme to be established

Discussions are under way for the establishment of a Home Grown School Feeding Programme in Jamaica. This was disclosed by the Hon. Audley Shaw, Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, who stated that during discussions at the recently held FAO meeting in Rome, the FAO had expressed an interest in sending a representative to Jamaica to assist in creating a model school-feeding programme. Hutchinson calls for removal of GCT on imported seeds

Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. J.C. Hutchinson, has reiterated his call for the removal of GCT on imported seeds and refrigerated trucks. Lamenting the high food import bill of approximately US$902 million in 2018, Minister Hutchinson said the removal of GCT on these items was necessary to facilitate increased production and modernisation of the agricultural sector.
