The JCC was represented by President, Lloyd Distant and 4th Vice-President, Keith Collister. Minister Shaw met with the JCC to formally introduce the new Minister of State, Hon. Dr. Norman Dunn, and to discuss areas of collaboration between the JCC and MIIC towards the growth of commerce in Jamaica. The Ministry will be working closely with the JCC to pursue the development of businesses, the growth of our MSMEs and commerce in general.

Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC), Hon Audley Shaw, has committed to strengthening relations with the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) to achieve economic growth and development. Promise kept: TBL eliminates permit backlog

Kingston, Jamaica: Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Audley Shaw, has delivered on a commitment to clear the import/export permit backlog at the Trade Board Limited (TBL) by Friday, October 9, 2020. Earlier this month, Minister Shaw issued a directive for the Trade Board Limited to move swiftly to clear the permit backlog which was due in part to hiccups related to the start-up of the Jamaica Single Window for Trade (JSWIFT) Portal. State Minister in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Dr. Norman Dunn, has lauded Jamaica’s upward move in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2020 ranking. The Report disclosed that Jamaica’s ranking has moved from 81st to 72nd in 2020, ranking 7th among the eighteen economies in Latin American and the Caribbean, and performing above average in three out of the seven GII pillars: Institutions, Business sophistication and Creative output. It's mandate is to lead the development of policies that will create growth and jobs, while achieving social inclusion and consumer protection. The Ministry, working its stakeholders is primarily responsible for business policy development, monitoring and evaluation, while giving direction and oversight to a cluster of implementing departments and agencies.
