Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC), the Honourable Audley Shaw recently convened a meeting at MIIC’s St. Lucia Avenue Head Office, with the team from Caribbean Cement Company Limited (CCCL) and their parent company Trinidad Cement Limited Group (TCL). Government developing secondary market for movable assets to improve access to finance for MSMEs

The government is a step closer to developing Jamaica’s secondary market for movable assets which will allow small businesses to access funding through asset-based lending (ABL) by using movable assets as collateral for loans. This, after the publishing of findings of an assessment of secondary markets for movable assets in Jamaica by the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). It's mandate is to lead the development of policies that will create growth and jobs, while achieving social inclusion and consumer protection. The Ministry, working its stakeholders is primarily responsible for business policy development, monitoring and evaluation, while giving direction and oversight to a cluster of implementing departments and agencies.
