JBDC On Course To Attaining ISO 9001:2015 Certification

The Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) is on track to being certified this year to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Standard by the National Certification Body of Jamaica (NCBJ). Things Jamaican Website Being Revamped

The Jamaica Business Development Corporation’s (JBDC’S) Things Jamaican e-commerce website is being revamped. Reconstruction of the site commenced earlier this year and is slated to conclude by December. Consumer Price Index July 2021

For July 2021, the All Jamaica Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 111.4, indicating an inflation rate of 1.5 per cent as released today by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN). The movement in the CPI was largely due to an increase of 2.3 per cent in the index for the heavily weighted ‘Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages’ division. Increases in the index for the divisions ‘Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels’ (1.3 %), ‘Restaurant and Accommodation Services’ (3.2%) and ‘Transport’ (0.8 %) also contributed to the overall inflation rate. Jobs Increase by 15% in BPO Sector

The number of jobs in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector increased by 15 per cent over the past year, with 44,000 people employed in the sector as of June 30, 2021. This compares to the corresponding period in 2020, which saw 38,400 persons being employed. Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, Senator the Hon.
