New Patent Bill to be tabled in the House of Representatives

State Minister in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Floyd Green, says a new Patent Bill is expected to be tabled in the House of Representatives in two weeks. Mr. Green informed that the bill has already gone through the necessary internal processes, including a meeting of the Legislative Committee, which has examined the bill. “We have (already) signed off on it so now it’s just to be tabled in Parliament,” he said. Phytomedicine and Cannabis Institute to be established in Jamaica

A local phytomedicine and cannabis institute will be established in short order to explore Jamaica’s vast botanical resources and validate the country’s medicinal plants for safety, efficacy, and dosage in clinical use. The Ministry, working its stakeholders is primarily responsible for business policy development, monitoring and evaluation, while giving direction and oversight to a cluster of implementing departments and agencies.
