50 farmers receive tanks, training and irrigation system under climate change adaptation and mitigation project

A total of 50 farmers from the community of Cascade in St. Ann have benefitted from the Japan Caribbean Climate Change Partnership (JCCCP) Project, which seeks to enhance their capabilities in climate change adaptation and mitigation. Under the JCCP project, the Cascade farmers received 1000-gallon tanks, a multipurpose shed that facilitated the harvesting of water in the tanks, and a drip irrigation system to irrigate their crops. Shaw encourages Jamaicans to plant fruit trees yearly

Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Hon. Audley Shaw, is urging Jamaicans to plant a fruit tree per year to commemorate an anniversary or birthday. “The planting of the fruit trees shows that you care about the environment, you care about food security for the poor,” he said. Activities under the Frosty Pod Rot management project resume

Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Hon. Audley Shaw has ordered the full resumption of the activities under the Frosty Pod Rot management project. The Minister made the announcement at a press conference at his Ministry’s Hope Gardens offices on October 9.
